Five on Friday: Things I hope to do this break

IT IS THANKSGIVING BREAK! Thank the gods. I’m so, so happy it’s finally hear.

I don’t care much about actual Thanksgiving day but I do love a week off of school!

Here are some things I hope to do this week.

Prepare for Christmas. This weekend I want to put up the tree and our other (sparse) decorations. I also need to prep for Heart and Toot’s arrival (out Elf on a Shelf and her reindeer).

Clean the downstairs. I am hosting book club on the 1st and I host downstairs which means I need to do a LOT of work to get the downstairs ready. I’m looking forward to it though because that space is driving me crazy.

Post and COMMENT! I want to write some more substantial blog post and do some big comment drops on other people’s blogs. I’m going to end NaBloPoMo strong!

Create and order the calendars. I am thinking this won’t be so bad which probably means it will. I should start it sooner rather than later.

Chill out! A crazy atmospheric river came through today and dropped historic amounts of rain on the Bay Area. More rain (but nothing like we had today) is forecasted for the next few days and I plan to take advantage of the grey skies to make a me-shaped indentation in my couch. Bring on the cat laps!

These are the cats I want on my lap

  1. GO CAT ON LAP TIME!!!!
Am sure the calendar time needed will be major but shall cheer you on.
Where is place to see who else is doing November challenge?
Hopefully you get focused time and it requires less than you fear to be ready to host.
And, thank you for doing decorations. Am seeing them in my neighborhood and they raise my spirits.
Your posts this month have made a difference. THANK YOU.

  2. Oh your cats are cute! My daughter keeps trying to convince us to adopt one but we have cat allergies, unfortunately she’s the only one without. Plus we have a grouchy senior Shih Tzu.
Glad that you have Thanksgiving break – we had our Canadian one back in October (on my birthday this year) – don’t even know why it’s different than the US. I also need to start cleaning up for Christmas decorating – we’re hosting the big dinner this year. It’s my daughter’s fave time of year (she’s also a Dec baby so I need to wait for her to come home next weekend to really decorate). And I hear you on book club being great impetus to clean!
Hope you have a great break!

  3. I hope the break is rejuvenating for you! Teachers work so hard, I’m glad that these breaks come along and give you some down time. When I was in school, we only got Thanksgiving and the day after off, not the whole week. I’m not taking any extra time off next week, but my husband is planning to. That’s excellent news because then he can get the house ready, we’re hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year. There will only be 6 of us, but there are still plenty of things to do.
