We are sending my daughter to riding camp in three weeks because she has had a total of 6 play dates with children her age since March, doesn’t have a sibling, and we just moved so she doesn’t have a friend pod here, even though there are a bunch of kids her age in our neighborhood (I am told — we have only met one so far). Oh yeah, we are doing this even though we have an au pair. Yep! I’m sure some people would skewer me for this decision. Oh well. We live in a low prevalence area. If that changes, we will change our plans.
I think… as long as you’re not going to parties or bars, limiting exposure to people, and you’re wearing a mask when you’re out in public, people can say what they want.
We are doing those things… we see 4-5 other families but always outside and the adults always wear masks (even outside when we’re far from each other). My son’s friends’ family require the kids wear masks and we do when we’re with them, but the older girls don’t when they are together (they are good at keeping their distance from each other). We let our kids sleep at my parents a few times in the last two weeks but now that my son’s at camp we’ll be back to socially distanced walks only with them. It’s a trade off I’m willing to make.
Thank you.
Wishing you all a day of rest, calm, hope, health, renewal.
