A do nothing day

Today I did pretty much nothing. And it was nice. And dare I say, needed. But now I have so much to do. Sometimes I wonder if do-nothing days are worth it. Yes, you get to rest and recharge, but then you’re faced with even more the next day.

At least it is a three day weekend, so I still have 48 hours to get some stuff done. And next next week is Thanksgiving break, so whatever isn’t done at the end of the weekend can probably wait until the break.

I’m trying not to let the looming to-do list stress me out too much. Everything will be okay, eventually.

  1. Sometimes it is necessary.
Just not all the time. Which you never do. Can you even remember the last time you had a ‘do nothing day’?
Just keeping breathing in and out is sometimes a lot. And, when it is that way, it is important to honor it.

  2. I feel the same way about rest and recharge days. They are nice, but at what cost?! That is probably exactly the opposite of how we should be dealing with a gift of time to do nothing, lol!

  3. Noemi, I agree with Rose above. You work so hard. And even if you didn’t you still deserve rest. I just listened to a podcast that recommended to look at the next two months and cut anything from your calendar that is non-essential or that doesn’t have a clear plan. I feel a lot of pressure to provide great memories to everyone during the holiday season but at what cost?…

  4. Yes- everything will be okay, eventually! I was just thinking about that John Lennon quote today- “Everything will be okay in the end. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end.”
I do have to say that somehow as you get older, all the fun things seem to have CONSEQUENCES. You go out for a few drinks- hangover the next day. Stay up a little later having fun- raging headache from sleep deprivation. Have a do-nothing day, suddenly a mountain of work is piled up.
Still… it will all be okay in the end.

  5. I always crave do nothing days once in a while and then at the end of the day I wonder why I wasn’t more productive with my time. It’s fun – haha. 🙂

  6. I hope your do nothing day had zero consequences. Prioritization is the key, I guess, to deciding what gets done when. But it sure is nice to relax sometimes!
