Bike Hacks, Take 2

My son can ride a two-wheeler now! (My daughter can too!) But we still need to find safe, bike-friendly spots for them to ride. It was driving me crazy to take the car so I could throw the bike in the back, so I figured out how to take his bike on my bike.

A couple of weeks after I figured that out, I took his seat off; he didn’t need it anymore and I’ve been jonsing for some cargo bags back there. Now I haul his bike like this.

Technically I can put my daughter’s bike on the other side and haul both kids and both bikes that way. I’ll take a picture when it happens.

The bike has been especially great as I get rid of things, because I can ride it right up to wherever I’m going and unload it. That makes all the difference in a city where sometimes you need to park a couple blocks from your destination.

There is a Thomas the Train pop-up tent under that suit bag!

  1. SO inventive and creative!!! The bike store should use your pictures of what is possible as advertising shots. I remember when you first wrote about the idea of getting such a bike and I thought … SF HILLS and children on t00?!!! Not possible. But it was, you have done it and we all totally cheer you on!
Hurrah for you! You are amazing. And your courage and determination keep me going forward too!

  2. It is super awesome to see how well you’ve used that bike & how much it enriches all your lives. I saw one like it in the wild when I visited Salt Lake City earlier this month & was so excited to see it! Then my next thought was “that scrawny guy doesn’t even have cargo bags, let alone children plus groceries, what a slacker compared to Noemi!” Then I decided I want to get my spouse one to replace the cross bike he’s had a long freaking time. The bike could vote so it’s time for its replacement (and it needs major repairs after a moving incident).
