Limping to the finish line

Today was a rough day at work. The kind of day where I sat with the heels of my palms in my eyes for long stretches.

So many students making poor choices. So much effort just to get them to do the bare minimum.

And then my daughter and I went to cheer on her friends (and my friends’ daughters) in their championship volleyball game and they lost at the end of the 3rd game. It was heart breaking and I’m exhausted so this will be all I write tonight.

Just one more day of school before the Thanksgiving break. We all need this week off, and badly.

  1. Thank you for caring about the students making bad choices. The fact that you care as their teacher is important. It probably would startle some of them and their parents. It changes you as their teacher and is positive and helpful even if you never see the change.
Very glad you have the week off and hope you are able to actually care for yourself as well as your family and students. Congratulations on all the school related work you got done this week; a gift to you and also to your students.
I hope today provides positive news at school and wish you well.

  2. Uff, that does sound like a long, exhausting day.. but I am glad the break is in sight for you. (I wish I got the Thanksgiving week off ;)).

    1. It really is lovely to have the week off. I will go into work for at least a half day, and work from home for at least a half day (all unpaid!) but it is nice to have some time away from my students for sure. This is our first break of the year and we are all ready for it.
