Mementos of Momentos

I don’t usually take down the tree until after the new year, but last night my daughter wanted to play with the princess ornaments, and then my son wanted to play with the Marvel ornaments, so I thought, might as well take them all off. Less than an hour later, our tree was bare.

I’m sadder about it than I expected to be. I feel like Christmas came and went so quickly this year, even though I was desperate for it to be over by the time it finally came.

I was most sad to take down my picture ornaments, so before I did I took pictures of them. And now that I have those pictures, I thought I’d share them here.

Placing each one in it’s little cloth bag, I was already excited to take them out again next year. I wonder what my kids will be like then, and which picture I’ll be using for the 2016 ornament.

  1. That is such a brilliant idea — the picture ornaments. Granted, I’ve only seen a few Christmas trees in my life, so maybe this is commonplace, but it’s the first time I’m seeing it, so I get to say that I think it is a perfect way of celebrating a family year after year.

  2. I love the idea of picture ornaments! We have one from when Izzy was born for her first Christmas that is up on our tree this year and one that has her picture that she made at daycare this year, but that’s it. I think I might have to make one for last year and then start the tradition starting next year.

  3. I got all of mine here at the end of the season – I did all of the boys’ Santa pictures. I LOVE them. But I wish I’d done what you did and change the TYPE of ornament each year. I did mostly the round glass one, and a couple of the metal ones for our family pics. I need to be less matchy matchy!

I love these! I especially love that first one šŸ™‚ Oh – and 2015. That one is PERFECTION!!!

  4. Those picture ornaments are precious. I should do something like that (who am I kidding, I have six years of photos that I need to sort through to go into books. yes my oldest child just turned 6). We get these cheesy ornaments from school with terrible polaroids in the middle.

    1. I really am enjoying them, and I think I think they will be really special to me until the day I die.
