Committing to NaBloPoMo

If my commitment post going up on the 3rd, and no post at all on the 1st, is any indication, this might be a mistake. But I have shown up for many a NaBloPoMo, and the amount of minutes I’ve been spending trying to reach “Genuis” on the NYT’s Spelling Bee suggests I do have the time. I think I might have the inclination as well, especially when there is such an organized push this year. (There probably has been this push before, I just didn’t know about it!)

I’m excited to show up here more. I’m determined to respond to all the comments. I’m stoked to read so many new blogs! I think this might be a really fun month in blogland!

Which is what I need. I need something that feels good right now, and this could be it.

I just spilled coffee all over my keyboard, which doesn’t feel like the greatest omen… but my computer still works so maybe it’s a metaphor!

This weekend I’m headed to wine country with some people from work. I almost wrote friends, but that doesn’t feel like the right word. I’ve known many of these people a long time. I’m sure I could call them friends. But I’m also nervous about spending the weekend with them. I can be very socially awkward – I talk too much and interrupt if I’m not careful. I’m also loud. Ho boy do I struggle with my inside voice! It’s booming! I’m just a lot, and it’s hard for me to manage myself and still have fun. With good friends I feel a little more comfortable because I know they are choosing to be with me for a prolonged. With something like this I feel a lot more self conscious.

But I’m trying to get out more – in real life and in blog land. It’s fitting that I signed up for NaBloPoMo the day before this little getaway. Bring it on, November.

  1. Have a great weekend! I am going to Sonoma area over Thanksgiving week. Let me know if you visit any places I shouldn’t miss. 🙂

    1. Will do. We’re actually spending more of our time farther north in Headsburg, because we’re public school teachers and we are always looking for a price break. But we’ll be in Sonoma proper on Sunday so I’ll keep an eye out. I’m more of a tequila girl myself, so I don’t go up to wine country all that much. But I will try my best to come back with at least one good reco.

  2. Noemi! Nice to meet you! I am so glad you found my “unofficial” NaBloPoMo list and that you’re joining us this year. It sounds like you’ve done it before? Well, I’ve been trying to survive it for the last few years and this year has the most participants in years. I also see you’re from “my neck of the woods” (I am in Sacramento) and I am guessing you’ll head to Napa/Sonoma for the weekend? Have so much fun! I am looking forward to reading more from you this month!

    1. Yes! Thank you for doing this! And thank Kae and Sarah for mentioning it so I checked it out. I’ve been blogging a long time but most of my old crew has peaced out so it’s really exciting to start reading other blogs.
And yes, I am heading to Napa/Sonoma tomorrow. We’re actually starting in Headsburg and then heading back down into Sonoma tomorrow. We’re all teachers so we have to go to the cheaper wine country. Ha! I’ll let you all know how it goes.
      And thanks again!

  3. Oooh, Welcome!!! It will definitely be a fun month in blogland. Glad you’re participating!
Your trip sounds awesome… well at least the location. Hope the social part goes well! As an extreme introvert I can relate- well, it sounds like we have opposite problems, but let’s just say it’s not always easy and I get it. Have fun!

    1. Yay! Thank you! I have WRITTEN a post every day for NaBloPoMo many times. Like a lot. But it’s been a long while since I PARTICIPATED like this. I’m excited. It should be fun!

You know, I am still trying to figure out if I’m an introvert or an extrovert. I used to get so energized by being out with people, but as I get older than has changed. I need to really know people to feel energized anymore. I’m just too self-conscious of how I’m managing social interactions with others these days to be energized when I don’t know them very well. I think it will be fine. At the very least it’s good practice. I’m starting to look forward to it. Thanks for stopping by!
