You all know how much I hate Thursdays. It’s the worst day. I have four 85-minute classes and no prep period. It’s just the longest slog and I’m so done by the end of it.
Today, after all that teaching and all that middle school madness, I had to stay at work until our “Celebration of Learning,” at 6pm, and talk to parents and students walking through my room for an hour.
Oh, and I have pink eye. In both eyes.
Talk about a really fucking bad day. It absolutely sucked.
Also I missed the 12yo’s concert tonight. He played trombone in the band and I missed it. Ugh.
Okay. Breathe. When I started this post it was 8:40 and I hadn’t eaten dinner. Now it’s almost 9pm and I have some food in my stomach and the hangry is subsiding. My eyes still feel like they’re sitting in sand, but the rest of me feels more human.
Tomorrow we have a minimum day, a great start to a three day weekend. Maybe, by Monday afternoon, I’ll actually feel good again.
So much work equipment/supplies! Wow. That has to be so tough to keep in any order. And pink eye is an unfun added event to top off the load. So sorry you had to miss your own child’s event!
But it does look organized and like you run a really fun class. Very different from the sterile punishment cell my French sadist taught. SO YOU ARE GREAT!
Here’s to joy on your long weekend, and a wish you get to sleep and recover.
Thank you for making the time to write as well.
“Very different from the sterile punishment cell my French sadist taught.” You are cracking me up. This line seriously made my whole morning, and I appreciate that because I’m OVER THIS WEEK! Thank you for always reading and ALWAYS commenting. I don’t check in enough to express my gratitude, but please know I am always feeling it!
Omg. That does sound like a bad day! I don’t like Thursdays either, but mine are a walk in the park compared to this. And you have pinkeye??????? I had pinkeye over the summer and it was NOT fun. Jeez. I hope you feel better soon and can relax over the weekend.
Your class looks fine. Just fine. That’s middle school. I am pretty minimalist but I do love having a color theme/overall theme. Example: in 2024 I had a theme that was “growth” so lots of eucalyptus leaves, light green signs, inspo signs promoting growth. The students liked it. Till this day i have green dominating the room 🙂 I started taking the stuff down though. Time for us to pack up- June 10th are the finals!
Hang in there, friend.
